Buckskin is known for its soft, stretchy and pliable temper while still retaining its distinctive rustic beauty and texture. Buckskin is also referred to as American Deer or Domestic Deer and is processed from wild deer. Buckskin on average is 3-5 ounces in weight and is perfect for garments, regalia, bags, moccasins, gloves and so much more! These hides are used to cut our Colorado Deer lace that is processed here in house.
Premium hides are very nice and have a large clean area in the middle of the hide with no defects. The edges of the hide may have small holes or blemishes but the majority of hide is uninterrupted by imperfections.
Economy hides are still nice but they may have a couple of holes and defects on the hide. There is a lot of usable leather on these hides but they didn't quite make the cut to be called premium.
Craft hides are more rustic. These hunters landed a few extra shots on the deer! The hides will have holes and other defects anywhere and might be oddly shaped. They are great for small or rustic projects.
We have 7 stock colors in our Buckskin that we try to carry all year long, these colors include: Black, Chocolate, Tobacco, Gold, Saddle, Smoke and White.
Each hide features a preview picture of a hide similar to the one you’ll be receiving.
