Description
Our commercially brain-tanned hides have the characteristics of traditionally brain-tanned leather, including a strong, smoky odor from the smoking process.
Experience the soft, flexible feel of commercially brain-tanned deerskin with these smoked deer hides. Featuring an undyed, natural suede texture and a distinctive smoky aroma, these hides are commercially processed to offer characteristics associated with traditional smoked brain-tanned leather, while remaining distinct from hides produced using traditional brain-tanning methods.
This commercially brain-tanned deerskin is suitable for garments, moccasins, bags, accessories, and other leathercraft projects. Available in multiple sizes, thicknesses, and four grades, these hides offer options for projects with different cutting requirements and preferences for natural markings.

GRADES
Premium Plus
This is the cream of the crop. Premium plus hides are the cleanest we offer - expect an exceptionally soft, pliable feel with a smooth center and very minimal blemishes or holes. Perfect for high-end projects like garments, moccasins, or accessories where appearance and consistency matter most.
Premium
These hides will have a large clean area in the middle of each deer hide with little to no defects. The edges of the leather hides may have small holes or blemishes and bug bites and scarring may be seen here and there. The majority should, however, be uninterrupted by imperfections.
Economy
These hides will still be in decent condition. However, they may have more noticeable holes, scratches, and defects found throughout the deer hide. There is still a lot of usable leather on these hides at a price that is hard to pass up! Great for medium-small projects, or projects where scarring and imperfections can add character.
Craft
These hides are rustic, meaning the hunters must have landed a few extra shots! Craft hides come with a heavy dose of character - expect a lot of holes, blemishes, and irregularities. While these may not be suitable for clean-cut pieces, they are perfect for patchwork, rustic projects or using pieces where imperfections become part of the story.
