Bring durability and versatility to your leathercraft projects with Back Country Black oil-tanned cowhide leather from the Summit's Edge collection. Made in the USA by S.B. Foot Tanning Co., this leather features a smooth texture, satin finish, and semi-stiff temper.

At 5–6 oz, Back Country Black is a sturdy leather option for boots, bags, wallets, journal covers, and other handmade leather goods. Choose a full cowhide side for larger projects or a smaller project piece when you don't need an entire hide.

• Blemishes: These sides and project pieces are in good condition for crafting. However, as they are genuine leather, they may contain natural markings such as scars, bug bites, scratches, or other blemishes.
  • LOW GRADE: These leather sides are considered low grade and will have noticeable blemishes, including bug bites, scars, scratches, cuts, and other imperfections. Some sides may also contain holes or have a 12" x 12" sample piece cut from the spine. 

These hides may have wax bloom (spew), which occurs when wax rises to the leather's surface. This can typically be removed by gently rubbing the affected area with a clean, dry cloth.

• Project pieces come from three areas of the hide:
  • Top pieces – from the neck area and often include more natural edges.
  • Middle pieces – from the center of the hide and typically more rectangular
  • Bottom pieces – from the rump area and often include more natural edges
