Buckskin is known for its soft, pliable temper and distinctively rustic look and texture. Also referred to as American or Domestic Deer, these hides come from wild deer and are typically 3–5 OZ in thickness - the perfect weight for garments, regalia, bags, moccasins, and more. These are the same hides we use to craft our Colorado Deerskin Lace, cut right here in-house!

Premium Plus: This is the cream of the crop. Premium plus hides are the cleanest we offer -- expect an exceptionally soft, pliable feel with a smooth center and very minimal blemishes or holes. Perfect for high-end projects like garments, moccasins, or accessories where appearance and consistency matter most. 

Premium: These hides will have a large clean area in the middle of each deer hide with little to no defects. The edges of the leather hides may have small holes or blemishes and bug bites and scarring may be seen here and there. The majority should, however, be uninterrupted by imperfections.

Economy: These hides will still be in decent condition. However, they may have more noticeable holes, scratches, and defects found throughout the deer hide. There is still a lot of usable leather on these hides at a price that is hard to pass up! Great for medium-small projects, or projects where scarring and imperfections can add character. 

Craft: These hides are rustic, meaning the hunters must have landed a few extra shots! Craft hides come with a heavy dose of character -- expect a lot of holes, blemishes, and irregularities. While these may not be suitable for clean-cut pieces, they are perfect for patchwork, rustic projects or using pieces where imperfections become part of the story.
